Chocado Smoothie

During summertime when I was a kid, my family used to ride our bikes to get ice cream after dinner. To this day, when the weather is lovely I still crave that sweet treat. Who isn’t always craving chocolate? Luckily, this smoothies tastes like a chocolate milk shake, with the bonus of healthy fat from the avocado. There are a million chocolate-avocado smoothie recipes out there; I think this one from Thrive Market is the best of the best, so I just tweaked it a tiny bit. Toss a little spinach in there for the extra nutrition boost – you’ll never taste it.

2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
1/2 ripe avocado
1/2 frozen banana
2 tablespoons almond butter
1 handful spinach leaves
3 pitted dates
1 tablespoon hemp, chia, or flax seeds
Dash of cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla extra
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup crushed ice

Put the cacao powder, avocado, banana, almond butter, spinach, dates, seeds, cinnamon, and vanilla in a blender. Pour in almond milk and crushed ice. Blend until smooth.
